About The Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition

The Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition (VVCC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity providing services throughout the Verde Valley. Our more than 200 volunteers provide services to 'Neighbors' - seniors and adults with disabilities who need a help to remain living independently at home.

VVCC provides assistance to more than 850 'Neighbors' each year. New 'Neighbors' are added daily and new Volunteers are appreciated and always welcome.

Verde Valley Caregivers is an active member of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and Sedona's Main Street Program.

OUR HISTORY

Verde Valley Caregivers was originally organized in 1992, as the Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition (VVCC) by local churches, hospitals, representatives of community organizations and agencies, with the specific goal of providing homebound or handicapped individuals with volunteer services that would increase their independence and allow them to stay in their homes.

The initial goal of VVCC was to initiate a Volunteer Caregivers Program within the Verde Valley. In 1993, services started in Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek with all other Verde Valley communities added later.

In 1994, the Guardian Angel Program was added, loaning personal security systems to medically qualifying persons who lived alone. The system allows recipients to be in contact via telephone in case of an emergency. Initially, VVCC had two units on loan; today we have over 425 units in 'Neighbors' homes.

The Silver Linings Thrift Shop opened in uptown Sedona in 2008 to help financially support the services offered by Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition.
